Shopping Campaign Refresher - User Guide

What is the Shopping Campaign Refresher?

The tool helps you sync your shopping campaigns with your product feed by removing the product groups that are no longer part of your product feed and creating product groups for products that were added.


How does it work

  • The system detects the structure or format in which the product groups were created.
  • It finds all the new products that are in the feed, but not in the campaign.
  • It creates product groups for the new products, and it detects and attempts to fit them into the existing structure of the campaigns.
  • It also finds the product groups that are no longer present in the feed and suggests removing them.
  • If the system can't find a well defined consistent structure in the Shopping Campaigns, it won't be able to recommend how the new products should be split out into product groups.

The Shopping Refresher only recommends product groups when the associated 'Everything Else' group is included. If it is excluded, the tool will ignore new products that were added to the feed under that split because the assumption is that anything that falls into 'Everything Else' should not show ads.

Right now, the optimization works only at ad group level. If you would like to refresh multiple ad groups simultaneously, you can try the Shopping Refresher Pro


How to use it?

You can access the Shopping Campaign Refresher optimization here.

Before you start using the optimization, we recommend resyncing your shopping feed in Optmyzr on the "Manage Merchant Feeds" page. This will allow Optmyzr to get the latest state of your feed.

  1. Select the campaign and ad group you want to run the refresher on. 
  2. Click "Next" and wait. The system will fetch your feed and compare which products are new and which are no longer in the feed.
  3. The tool will recommend creating new product groups (highlighted in green) and removing product groups for products that no longer exist in the feed (highlighted in red).
  4. The default bid applied is the bid assigned to "everything else" at the level. It can be modified before posting changes to AdWords.


Set bids with the Shopping Refresher

Once the system displays the results, you will have the option to set bids for the new and the existing product groups. You can choose to set a bid manually or to inherit the bid from the parent product group.
